Big Sur, California

If you’re planning a trip to San Fransisco, I strongly recommend taking a side trip to Big Sur.

On your way to or from Big Sur, you can explore the 17-Mile Drive. Once you get to Big Sur, there are many options of places to stay or camp. My husband and I spent a weekend in Big Sur for a wedding and the views were absolutely incredible! To see the views (and a surprise flash mob during the wedding), click here.

We chose to stay in Lucia Lodge because it was close to the wedding, but I don’t recommend it. The views are breathtaking, but the rooms are very small and outdated. Here’s a view of the cabins:

And the view from the terrible continental breakfast at the Lucia Lodge.

As you can see from the pictures, you’re only paying for the view at Lucia Lodge. Spend your money on a hotel like the Post Ranch Inn instead.

Keep scrolling to see some of the best pictures I took in Big Sur. You will see that it’s worth the drive from San Fransisco just for the views (and Instagram opportunities).
