During Christmas vacation in Paris, my husband and I spent a lovely afternoon exploring places I haven’t yet seen in the city of lights. We were especially excited to discover one of the best views of the city: the rooftop of Galeries Lafayette! I strongly recommend stopping by the Cube Bar (the 7th floor of the Coupole, Galeries Lafayette) for an apéritif.
My Parisian husband showed me that the Galeries Lafayette consist of several buildings with high-end shopping. It’s similar to a shopping mall with a Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstrom, and Bloomingdale’s (if this even exists in the States). The Coupole is one of the Galeries Lafayette buildings and a bar was recently added to the rooftop. We sipped on rosé champagne and soaked up some of the last rays of sunshine for the day. After, we still had some time for a little shopping. But I had the most fun snapping a couple of gorgeous photos.
Two other stops this day included meandering through Passage des Panoramas, Passage Joffrey, and Place Vendôme. All of these gorgeous sights are within walking distance of each other. And the best part is that if you get hungry along the way, you can stop inside any Bistro and have a delicious meal. The food is always good in Paris; my personal Bistro favorite is a ham and cheese sandwich.
Passage des Panoramas and Passage Joffrey are beautiful, covered passages located in the 2nd arrondissement of Paris. I recommend strolling through these passages to window shop and admire the history (Passage des Panoramas first opened in 1800). And don’t forget to Instagram / Snapchat your best pictures!
The Place Vendôme is a famous square in the 1st arrondissement. I read a nonfiction book about the square and the Hôtel Ritz during WWII. There’s so much history here, if only these walls could talk …
The Christmas season is a wonderful time to stop by the square at night. It’s so beautiful and festive!
Happy New Year, family and friends!
