The Hillwood Estate, Museum and Gardens is tucked away in the Northwest corner of Washington, D.C. Ranked as #19 on Trip Advisor’s Things To Do in Washington, D.C. this hidden gem is underrated. If you live in the area and you haven’t spent an afternoon exploring the museum and gardens, take an uber here during your next free weekend. As you wander around the gardens, you would never know that you’re inside a city. All of the pictures I took (see some below) are of the sculptures and plants in the garden or greenhouse. You’re not allowed to take pictures inside the museum, but it’s well worth the $18 suggested donation. Guests are able to view “the most comprehensive collection of Russian imperial art outside of Russia [and] a distinguished 18th-century French decorative art collection.” Stop by anytime on a Saturday or Sunday from 10am – 5pm. I suggest giving yourself some extra time to relax or meditate in the gardens.
